SSH Clients
- MS Windows 10: using ssh command in Command Prompt (cmd.exe) or Power Shell
- Apple macOS / Linux: using ssh command in Terminal app or XTerm
Using ssh on Apple macOS / Linux / MS Windows 10
- start Terminal app (macOS / Linux) or Command Prompt (Windows 10).
- use ssh command to create SSH tunnel
ssh -L3128:iproxy.cse.cuhk.edu.hk:3128 cse_username@gw.cse.cuhk.edu.hk
- Login using your CSE email password
- Configure the web browser on your desktop/laptop to use the proxy server:

Change the Network / Proxy setting of your web browser
- Better use seperated web browser such as Firefox.
- Connect to gw.cse.cuhk.edu.hk with HTTP tunnelling configuration
- Manual proxy configuration
- All web traffic will going through iproxy.cse.cuhk.edu.hk. Only access to CSE web servers are allowed.
- Web / HTTP Proxy: 127.0.0.1
- Port: 3128
- Automatic proxy configuration
- Allow access to CSE web servers through iproxy.cse.cuhk.edu.hk and access to other web servers directly at the same time.
